Editing is the procedure of selecting, researching and preparing articles of written content which is being used to convey information. The editing process can involve correction, condensation, organization, and many other modifications performed with an intention of producing a correct, consistent, and complete work. The editing process often begins with the author’s written work for the article itself, and then continues as a cooperation between the author and the editor. Editing can involve creative skills, human relations and a precise set of methods.

There are many editorial positions in the publishing industry. There are editorial assistants reporting to the senior-level editorial staff. There are senior executive editors who are responsible for developing a product for its final release.
